FUTURE LENS
(VISUAL STORYTELLING ARTIST FACILITATOR, 2020)
Future Lens was a joint project between the Neighbourhood House Unit and the Arts and Culture Unit at Brimbank City Council. The project has been funded by Creative Victoria through the VicArts Grants program
The Future Lens online exhibition was a creative outcome that comprised original bodies of work from young female creatives of colour who developed and produced photographic works and recorded stories.
Over eight months, in 2020 during lockdown in Melbourne the creatives were supported by experienced arts practitioners Irihipeti Waretini, Geskeva Komba and Ntombi Moyo, who provided guidance, workshops, industry knowledge and mentoring in various capacities to assist each participant’s development and implementation of their work.
The exhibition that took place highlighted the individual journeys of the creatives, their families and communities they come from, and consisted of compelling, original work that captured the strength, knowledge and power of black, brown and indigenous women.
