Sisters and Brothers
(CO-DESIGNER, LEAD ARTIST FACILITATOR, ARTIST FACILITATOR TRAINER, 2013-2018)
The Sisters and Brothers program facilitates workshops with primary school students, aged 8-12 years. The program promoted dialogue around diversity, raising awareness and building empathy for those who experience race-based discrimination by teaching bystander intervention strategies through an innovative vocational arts program.
At the heart of the Sisters and Brothers project was the age-old power of music and mass singing. The Sisters and Brothers workshop process explored storytelling, collaborative song-writing, musical rhythms from diverse cultural traditions, and role-play. Between 2013 and 2018, Sisters and Brothers had been delivered across 25 schools to more than 1500 students throughout the inner and outer Western suburbs of Victoria.
